Deep-cleaning the Flip & Sip lid

These steps are for the lid and its parts. The tumbler body just needs warm water and mild soap; never use anything abrasive on the ceramic. Once the lid is fully apart, every surface is reachable. That's the point of the design, and it's why nothing gets trapped where you can't clean it.

Weekly deep clean
Soak all removable parts in warm water with a mild dish soap for 10–15 minutes. Then use a straw brush, baby-bottle brush or soft toothbrush on the inside of the spout, around the silicone seal, and inside the pivot area of the lid. All parts are dishwasher safe on the top rack if you prefer.

For stubborn buildup or odor
Soak the parts in equal parts white vinegar and warm water for 15–20 minutes, or drop a denture-cleaning tablet in warm water and soak. Rinse well.

Drying matters most
Let every part air dry separately before reassembling. Moisture sealed between silicone and plastic is the one thing that causes buildup, and it's completely avoidable.

A few things to avoid
No bleach, no abrasive cleaners, no boiling water. Any of these can damage the silicone and plastic.

Deep clean weekly, rinse daily, and your lid stays as clean as the day it arrived.

Lubricate the ring seal so the lid screws on easily
The wide silicone ring around the underside of the lid is what seals against the cup as you screw it down. When it's dry it drags on the ceramic rim, which makes the lid feel stiff or stop short of fully tight. The fix is in your kitchen: put a drop of olive oil or vegetable oil on a fingertip and rub a thin film around the ring, then wipe off any excess. The lid will turn on smoothly, seat all the way down, and seal properly — this is also the trick for a lid that's always felt hard to get into position. Reapply whenever the lid feels stiff again, usually after a few washes. Food-grade silicone grease works too and lasts longer if you have it. Skip petroleum jelly; it breaks silicone down over time.
